The car mechanic Marco Perkins is an upcoming prize fighter. He gets a place in the polo team of an elite club in the countryside because he is the most skilled player in town. Marco learned to play polo when he served in the US Army. Hanging out with the rich of the city during the polo matches gives Marco an exaggerated idea of his social position and he decides to act afterwards. Marco breaks up with his girlfriend, the humble Cynthia Brown, and sets his sights on Gloria Staunton, a debutante on the polo team.
