"She's the words and music in all America's heart!"
Rosie O'Grady's daughters live with their Irish father who, when he's not drunk, tries to keep his daughters out of the clutches of pushy men. Father O'Grady (James Barton) is a former comedian who still mourns the loss of his wife and who especially harbors a grudge against the theater. However, the eldest daughter Patricia (June Haver) wants to make a career on the stage. She meets Tony Pastor (Gordon MacRae) during an audition and falls head over heels in love with him.
