The Daughter of MacGregor plot
Jean MacGregor's nosy neighbor, Miss McGrim, causes a scandal by lying about Jean's relationship with Winston, a young Englishman. The ugly gossip forces Jean to leave her tyrannical father, Donald, and flee to America, to stay with her uncle Robert, who runs a logging camp in Florida. To earn passage to Florida, Jean joins a show troupe as a dancer and piper, which tours the fairgrounds. Meanwhile, Miss McGrim marries Donald, further tainting Jean's relationship with her father. When Jean arrives in Florida, Robert is cold to her, but she wins him over when she helps him catch thieves who have been preying on the camp.
