The Couple Takes a Wife plot
Jeff Hamilton (Bill Bixby) and his wife Barbara (Paula Prentiss) are very busy with their careers, leaving them with no time to look after the kids or keep up with the household. That's why they place an ad for someone who can do these tasks. The industrious Jennifer Allen (Valerie Perrine) responds to the ad and is hired. She turns out to be an excellent housewife who takes her duties very seriously, much to Barbara's dismay.
