The Cinderella Man plot

When Marjorie Caner returns from abroad, she is quite lonely in the large house of her wealthy father. When she hears that a young poet named Anthony Quintard is living in poverty next door while working on the libretto for a major opera, she hops across the rooftops and brings him a Christmas banquet. The poet sees Marjorie, and knowing that he abhors wealth, she poses as the Caner family secretary.
