Syncopating Sue plot
Susan Adams, who works as a pianist in a Broadway music store, has aspirations to become an actress. Famed theater producer and successful star maker Arthur Bennett calls Susan into his office to complain about her noisy piano playing and she haughtily replies that she will stop if he gives her a chance as an actress. Susan then makes a mistake about Eddie Murphy, who has recently arrived in town. She was under the impression that he was a suitor. Eddie is now living in her boarding house and their friendship grows when she finds out that he is friends with the saxophonist Joe Horn. But Eddie, drumming in a cabaret, is disappointed to see Susan accompanied by Arthur Bennett.
