Steve plot
Steve follows a pivotal day in the lives of principal Steve and his students at a last-chance reform school, amidst a world that has failed them. As Steve fights to protect the integrity of the school and its impending closure, he struggles with his own mental health. Parallel to Steve’s struggles, troubled teenager Shy is caught between his past and the future, as he attempts to reconcile his inner vulnerability with his drive for self-destruction and violence.

A good film about a headmaster of troubled youngsters who has a busy day ahead of him. Despite taking place over a single day, the film is somewhat fragmented. The sometimes chaotic camerawork underscores the hectic pace of the day. Not all the characters are portrayed equally well, but otherwise, it's a good film.

This movie isn't for me; I only give it a few points for Murphy's always superb performance. Otherwise, I was just incredibly nervous and exhausted by this film.

It ends beautifully, but the road to it is a bit of a slow process. Of course, Cillian Murphy delivers excellent acting.
I would have liked the film to be half an hour longer, to flesh out the boys' characters more, so you could connect with them more. Still, it's worth setting aside an hour and a half for.
