Scratch My Back plot

Eager to be on stage, Madeline runs away from her convent school to accept the offer of a despicable dance teacher named Jahoda to appear with him in a vaudeville act. She soon tires of appearing in squalid second-rate music halls and becomes frightened when Jahoda makes obvious advances toward her. She returns home shortly thereafter and marries Loton. Time passes and one evening Madeline is attending the opera when her back begins to itch unbearably. Val Romney, a man with a reputation for always doing his bidding, notices Madeline's distress.
