Rare Exports plot

"He knows if you've been naughty. He knows if you've been nice. And he doesn't give a sh*t."

Young Pietari lives with his father Rauno who runs a reindeer slaughterhouse. Near them, an American science expedition makes a big find: they find Santa Claus who, according to legend, was buried there. Not Santa Claus as many know him, but the evil local variant. The day before Christmas, Pietari and his friends pass a field of dead reindeer. The adults blame a wolf, but Pietari and his friend Juuso know that something else is going on, a dark one. The next day, however, it is discovered that all the children from the village are missing.

To wait.

That's the first word that comes to mind after seeing this movie. Waiting for something interesting to happen. The story itself was well thought out and could have been done much better. The idea can be quite terrifying.

It's a shame that the horror is very mediocre and it started to feel like a kind of children's film. That kid in particular makes this look like a children's movie. The horror is quite mediocre and is nowhere exciting. The gore is not good at all. There is 1 moment in the film where it seems to live on for a while, that moment where that guy gets a knife thrown in his head. But alas, then the finale came again.

All in all a very disappointing Christmas horror. Could have been much scarier, better and more challenging in every way. In the beginning it was still reasonable, but after that it goes downhill very quickly.

Awful film that, despite the duration of 84 minutes, seemed to last 840 minutes in my opinion. There was no end to it and yes, what is it really about? Nothing left. Nothing more than a bunch of nonsense you were presented with. Sometimes a beautiful lady makes up for things, but in this film there was no woman in sight. For example, I recently read that women are leading in politics in Finland. Not in this film or the women in Finland thought a role in this was too small. You could almost say it. But soon forget this stuff. Rarely agreed with alexspyforever's comment on this.

The idea is not completely fresh and new, and the execution is a bit wobbly here and there. Still, enough nice finds, and the shivering look of the helper Santa is nicely done. It could have been a bit scarier, but that again - maybe it's for the target group of 6? year olds is scary enough, but not for me.

A comparison with Sint is of course obvious. But, as has been said before, the director doesn't choose enough which way to go - horror, comedy, or something else. It seems that the film takes itself too seriously - and of course that can never lead to anything good in this genre.
