Private Jones plot
"He told his lieutenant where to get off!...and the cockiest kid in the army made that one big mistake!"
After America enters World War I, young William "Bill" Jones tries to escape military service by telling the military inspectors that he is his family's only source of income and that he works for businessman Roger Winthrop, the boss of his sister Helen. While Bill waits to meet Winthrop in his office, he encounters Lieutenant John Gregg, who recently enlisted in the military and who, unlike Bill, fully believes in the justice of war.
