Pleasure before Business plot

Sam Weinberg, an industrious cigar manufacturer, is in poor health. His daughter, Ruth, an assistant to Dr. Burke uses her dowry to make his life more plausible. She tells her father that the money is from an inheritance from her uncle Max. Sam starts spending a lot of money and betting on golf games and horse racing. Because of this, Morris, who was promised to Ruth, retrieves his engagement ring. Sam realizes he spent the dowry money and regrets betting a large sum on a racehorse. And then Uncle Max also arrives unexpectedly from Australia.
