Periscópio plot

Two men in an apartment, cut off from the world. Or maybe this is the world? It is not clear why 76-year-old Eric and 43-year-old Elvio are together. The young man takes care of the old one and does odd jobs. They get bored and argue, while they seem to be waiting for death. But in their loneliness they are condemned to each other, for there is no other world but this one. One day a man-sized periscope protrudes through the floor. Who or what finds it necessary to see their gray lives?
