Onionhead plot
"The Ship's Cook who has the Coast Guard in a Stew!"
Student Al Woods deals with girls and going to parties. When his charms are barely catching on and his friendship with his girlfriend Jo Hill is on the wane, Al enlists in the Coast Guard as an assistant cook on the "SS Periwinkle". In this way he hopes to sit out the Second World War peacefully and quietly. However, he regularly clashes with the customs of the Navy and especially with Officer Red Wildoe. However, these conflicts draw the attention of Wildoe's betrothed Stella.
