Carla receives a call from the small village in southern Spain where she grew up. Her father, whom she hasn't spoken to for years, turns out to be very ill. However, she refuses to believe it and, despite everyone's opinion, decides to take him to Barcelona. She is convinced that they can help him there. They travel across the country in a desperate race to stay ahead of death and make up for lost time.
