Last seen at the end of 2008 and so it was high time for a review! Fortunately, the film remains very entertaining even on the 2nd viewing.

The stories stand on their own, but at the same time make a beautiful whole. Comedy and drama elements are well interspersed and that's why it has become a film that is impressive and human on the one hand, but also has great humor on the other hand.

Let's not forget that the beautiful night images of the cities bring a lot of atmosphere and the music not only fits with it, but also gives the images an extra soothing feeling.

Especially story 1, 2 & 5 are very good, but also 3 & 4 are appropriate in this whole.

In 2008 I gave 4 stars, and I still agree.

Whether it's a priest who weighs as much as a cardinal or a blind girl who doesn't know that blind people wear dark glasses because she's never seen someone like that before, humor is irresistibly woven into this shutter film, the second part of which stars Giancarlo. Esposito and Armin Mueller-Stahl is irresistibly hilariously funny.
I have searched in vain for a clear thread, unless the misunderstanding between people can count as one : the casting woman who does not understand that the girl would rather be a mechanic than a movie star, the man who ridicules all that is un-New York , the driver who considers a life as a blind person impossible, the man with no respect for the priest or the man who considers someone else's misfortune to be fussy about what happened to him...
Not the first film about the misadventures of a taxi driver in a big city, but this one by Jim Jarmusch - that man has already made beautiful pictures - is very clever and shows craftsmanship.
Of course, the location is simple, there are plenty of colorful atmospheric images of the nighttime metropolis and you can still enjoy the excellent acting performances of just about all drivers and their customers and of course the witty, often spicy dialogues.

Nice film by Jarmusch, who here portrays a taxi driver and the relationship with his customer. There is no plot except for the taxi ride itself of two people who meet and start talking to each other during the ride. The film actually consists of 5 separate journeys and stories from various cities in the world, each filmed after sunset or at night.

It seems nothing special, were it not for the fact that Jarmusch's approach is very fresh. The stories are interesting and the interaction between the people is fascinating. The humorous component is also present and adds something extra.

Enjoyed it very much and each story has its own take. The love for taxi driving is central. I thought NY was really cool, but Helsinki, for example, was also a nice place to be. Rome was quite busy with Benigni as an actor. I can understand why he's a little scared.
