“You know I'm always ready to dance with you.”
Strange but sometimes quite nice. The premise of a woman in love with her best (gay) friend is of course not everyday, and the film itself does the strangest things. The first part is messy, the acting is very mediocre, and You know from the beginning that this can't go well for long. The fight and everything that happens after that is the best part of the film. Finally some emotion, although Pierson Fode completely falls through the cracks here. Victoria Justice is fun , but she can't do it all on her own either.

Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List is a nice smooth teen movie that doesn't last too long and is straight to the point. There is not much nonsense in it and the fresh atmosphere makes the ride pleasant. The perspective regarding the sexual orientation makes it of course a bit different from many other movies in this genre, but in the end that doesn't matter that much.
The only thing that bothers me is the message that the film wants to convey. Actually, something very daring happens. Namely that Ely steals Naomi's boyfriend. This of course causes friction between the two and even puts their friendship on the back burner. I therefore find the conclusion of the film regrettable. In fact, the makers are saying that stealing your best friend's boyfriend is allowed, because friendships are important. Well, that's not how it works. The film is of course light and cheerful in nature, but a slightly less simple ending would have given the film more weight. For example, the friendship should still have been watered down, but that they meet each other on the street after a year or two and decide to have a cup of coffee. Something along those lines. I have seen films take this path and I simply think they are a lot better. Like The Spectacular Now (2013), but also a film like The Break-Up (2006) has an ending that should have been applied here as well. Somewhat different situations, but I would have preferred to see something like that.
Too bad, because it is just a lighthearted film. The message that the film conveys at the end I find unbelievable and inappropriate.

I had read a number of positive reviews about this film and the film itself (poster, description and actors) also appealed to me, but to be honest I expected a film that I would give four or five stars and this was absolutely not that. The beginning was boring, but luckily the ending was nice. The problem in the beginning was also that the characters did not appeal to me at all and I actually found them a bit strange. No, this is certainly not a masterpiece, not even if you just want to watch a simple-to-watch film.
