Mr. Boggs Steps Out plot
"HE WAS AN OPTIMIST... He could see the doughnut when others only saw the hole!"
Oliver Boggs is a typical office clerk. Boggs, who has no career prospects despite his knowledge, wins $1,500 in a cinema guessing contest. He quits his job and goes to the seedy town of Peckham Falls. There he buys a barrel factory and he falls in love with Irene Lee, the snobbish niece of the old grumbler Morton Ross. Morton is the only rich man in town and owner of the closed canneries. Oleander Tubbs and her father and inventor Angus, who have sold their factory to Boggs, tell him that the factory has no future, but Boggs disagrees, quite the contrary.
