"Mom is many things... normal isn't one of them."
When her umpteenth relationship breaks down, Mrs. Flax takes her two daughters to the East Coast to start over. The eldest daughter Charlotte is going through a difficult phase in her life and desperately wants to become a nun, but falls in love with a boy from the village and does not know how to deal with her feelings. The mother who still plays the loose ball and the Roman daughter regularly clash with each other.

Entertaining movie. I expected an annoying movie, but it was not that bad. It was actually a fun movie. The acting is good and the story is fun. 3.0 for a fun comedy.

Typical 90's movie for me. Cher is horrible. All a bit dull. Bob Hoskins saves the film slightly. Story is still somewhat to appreciate, not very disturbing. But otherwise it all remains quite lukewarm and boring.

Never thought I'd appreciate a movie with Cher in it, but it did. In fact, I really liked her in this movie. To be honest I've never been a big fan of Winona Ryder but I really like her in this movie. Especially the difficult relationship between mother and daughter is very well portrayed and provides some impressive dialogues between mother and daughter. The scene where the little sister almost drowns was quite impressive to me. Yet you feel throughout the film the strong bond that mother and the 2 daughters have with each other. Nice movie!
