Losing Ground plot
Sara Rogers is a philosophy professor who is married to the successful painter Victor. Victor manages to sell one of his paintings to a museum and to celebrate, he rents a cottage on the coast for the summer where he can paint. Sara doesn't like this because she planned to spend the summer in New York working on an article. She feels that Victor does not take her academic career seriously enough. This leads to the necessary tensions in their relationship.
