Les Lettres de Mon Moulin consists of three short stories: I. The Three Midnight Masses: The evening of Christmas the devil encourages Don Balaguère to make his masses as short as possible so that he can quickly start his own meal. But Heaven punishes him bitterly: he is sentenced to a century in purgatory. II. Reverend Father Gaucher's elixir. To save his monastery from destruction, Father Gaucher creates a wonderful liqueur, the secret of which he knows only. But the overuse of spirits shakes his mind. III. The Secret of Master Cornille. The rise of flour mills that use steam energy has led to the closure of windmills in Provence. Only Meester Cornille continues to use his mill.
