Les Histoires d'Amour Finissent Mal... en Général plot
Zina, a beur (North Africans, who are French, comparable to Moluccans in the Netherlands) is an usherette in a theater in the City of Light. She easily makes fun of the truth, can pretend to be the murdered innocence and puts everything loose and stuck in her purse or pocket. She is, however, an insatiable glory. Her boyfriend Slim is also a purse. He drives a taxi, but hopes to graduate as a master of law. Zina becomes enamored of and involved with Fréderic, the protagonist of the play that runs in the theatre. She wonders - unhampered by knowledge or experience - why she too should not be successful on stage. She already has two admirers: Slim and Frédéric. She can't decide at all which of the two she should choose; they have to decide for themselves. After all, the world is at her feet?
