Le Silence Est d'Or plot
Emile Clément (Chevalier) is a 50-year-old former stage actor, who is now the director of a film company in Paris. One day he finds a young girl, Madeleine (Derrien), in front of his door, who has come to Paris in search of her father. The initially paternal feelings that the girl evokes in him make him decide to take her into his home. It soon becomes apparent that Emile's paternal feelings turn into an uncontrollable love for the young Madeleine. However, Madeleine falls in love with Jacques, who works for Emile in the film studio. A love that is mutual. Jacques understands that Madeleine is Emile's protégé and, to his own bitterness, decides to end the relationship.
