Lay That Rifle Down plot
To pay the mortgage and taxes on a farm she inherited, orphan Judy Canova works hard at the Greebville hotel, owned by her ungrateful Aunt Sarah Greeb. Because of the ranch's sentimental value, Judy is determined to keep it. Because Judy takes a correspondence course, she regularly receives letters that spark the interest of her impudent nieces Tweeny and Betty Greeb, and of her beloved Horace Speckleton. When they tease her about having a boyfriend, Judy fantasizes about her wealthy admirer Poindexter March III, whom she plans to meet later that day in a neighboring town.
