Last Dance plot

Germain becomes a widower at the age of 75. The thoughtful house sparrow barely gets time to process the loss when his family meddles excessively in his life. The phone doesn't ring, the door is knocked down, meals are prepared for him and his agenda is already filled in for the coming months. His family means well, but Germain has other things on his mind. As he once promised his wife, he takes part in a modern dance performance.

Spouses Germain [François Berléand] and Lise [Dominique Raymond] promised each other long ago that if one of them should die, the other would finish what the deceased was doing. When Lise suddenly dies, Germain therefore wants to take her place in a dance performance by the famous choreographer La Ribot. However, his patronizing children immediately set a strict daily schedule for him and neighbor Elisabeth [Marie-Madeleine Pasquier] provides food every day. Instead of putting his kids and the neighbor in their place and explaining why he goes to dance rehearsals, Germain does everything he can to keep this a secret and please everyone. That bizarre premise forms the basis for this implausible, far-fetched comic drama. If you can swallow the basics, you'll definitely enjoy this more than I did.
