L'Aria del Continente plot

A middle-aged man from the Sicilian countryside decides to go to the continent, to mainland Italy. In Rome he meets a woman. Thus begin his romantic adventures. He often visits the racecourse and the coast of Ostia. Once back in Sicily, he tells his relatives about life in Rome. Then he goes to Rome again, but this time with his sister and his niece. The latter meets an intellectual young man with whom she falls in love. When he is back in the countryside, the woman with whom the protagonist had a relationship in Rome rejoins him. The young man also comes by, because he wants to marry his cousin.
