The 16-year-old Conny is an orphan. She lost both her parents at a young age and lives with her aunt Lotte. Her grandfather, the world-famous conductor Franz Vidal, transfers 300 marks a month to support her, but wants nothing more to do with her. When he travels to the Black Forest to relax, his unsuspecting secretary invites Conny to visit him.
