Young Barbara Allen is a gas station attendant in her hometown. Barbara is sent to high school after her aunt Kate is settled in a lawsuit. Aunt Kate, who has been given limited freedom of movement by her parents and has never been able to marry, is determined to ensure that her niece Barbara does not suffer a similar fate. Once at school, Barbara makes her fellow students believe she is 'hot stuff' by smoking and drinking and believes she has unlimited freedoms.
