The eccentric Priam Farrell is a well-known and respected artist. He prefers to work in total seclusion. So much so that he has spent the last 20 years creating his paintings on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. His servant Henry Leek is his only company. Priam learns that he is being knighted by King Edward VII and he reluctantly sails back to Britain with Leek. On the way, Leek dies and Priam sees it as the perfect opportunity to escape the public eye again. He impersonates Leek. Things get complicated for Priam when Alice Challice shows up with a letter stating that Leek is proposing to her.
