Grabbers plot

"For the locals on Erin Island, it's last orders."

Ciarán O'Shea, the handsome but decrepit cop from sleepy Erin Island, spends his days hanging out in the pub with the local drunks. Together with his industrious colleague Lisa, they suddenly have to deal with dead whales, decapitated fishermen and strange aliens called grabbers. Like a giant squid with tentacles, large jaws and a three-foot spiny tongue, they make mincemeat of the locals. O'Shea and Lisa learn that the lone survivor of the latest massacre was so drunk that his blood was poisonous to the monsters.

Mediocre film in which the population of a small Irish island is frightened by bloodthirsty monsters. Not bad in itself, but all too standard thirteen in a dozen to make an impression. The fact that the population has to be drunked to ward off the monsters does provide a number of entertaining moments.

Mwah. Didn't think Wright's ''Tormented'' was much at the time either. This also shows very little. Very neatly shot, great look. At least it still creates atmosphere, because despite the attempts; this is not very funny, nor explicit enough to be an entertaining monster flick. The Grabbers themselves look nice, colorful and armed with teeth. That's about it for the highlights. Semi-funny stuff without the bit of originality to utilize the potential.

Lucky break.

In terms of horror it lacks a lot of elements like gore and suspense. Even though it is a comedy, and I can usually appreciate this humor. Sometimes there were also very funny moments. Also quite often had to giggle.

The cast does a very reasonable job, only a bit stiff at the beginning. Only at the end it gets better because then you can show more I think. The grabbers looked really nice by the way. The CGI was really nicely done.

Nice lookout, sometimes feels a bit long but still doable.
