Follow a Star plot
Vernon Carew was once a world-class singer, but his voice is declining and with it his success. Norman Truscott, however, still considers him a huge star and has aspirations of his own to sing. Norman can sing quite well, but the audience makes him nervous when his lover isn't around. When he sings at a Carew performance, he is applauded and Carew is booed. Carew has a plan to continue his career by recording Norman and playing them during his performance. However, Norman's singing teacher recognizes the voice and wants to expose it.
