"A riot of Beauty and Luxury on the Screen!"
New York, 1926. Adam Smith is a plumber who is barely making ends meet. His wife Eva is very dissatisfied with her life and complains that she does not own luxury clothes. Due to a car accident, a shop with fancy clothes on Fifth Avenue draws Eva's attention. Partly out of self-interest, Eva's best friend Alice Atkins advises her to take a job there as a model and she is then hired by the owner Josef André. But when Adam sees his wife in underwear in André's shop, he becomes angry and wants to never see her again.
