Fast ein Held plot

In February 1944, a German company, stationed in the French mountain village of Les Molinettes, is put on transport to the Eastern Front. Only Corporal Karl Küpper is still asleep during the departure. He owes this to his French girlfriend Belle Hélène who has mixed a sleeping pill in his wine. Before he realizes it, Küppers is the new commander of Les Molinettes. Henceforth he reigns as a popular monarch for the good of all the villagers. But with the landing of the Allies, the situation changes.
