Fanie Fourie's Lobola plot
Fanie is a single boy who still lives in his mother's garage and restores old cars. His brother Sarel, a successful African pop singer about to marry the 'perfect woman', challenges him to come to his wedding on a date. Fanie asks the beautiful Zulu woman Dinky Magubane, who agrees on one condition: he must pretend to be her boyfriend. She tries to prevent her father from forcing her into a marriage according to the old traditions. The situation changes when they fall in love with each other. Their relationship crumbles due to their cultural differences, family traditions, a deranged ex-boyfriend and 'lobola' (the traditional dowry). However, their feelings for each other remain.
