Familiar Strangers plot

Brian Worthington returns to his family in rural Virginia after years. However, his joy is short-lived. He used to come into conflict with his father and that was never resolved. The man feels that as a father he has lost touch with his aging children. His sister is recently divorced and has problems. And circumstances force him to kill the only member of the family to whom everyone is so attached: the beloved dog Argus.
