Courvalin is single. The impetuous Aurélie is his mistress. But when he sees the betrothed of one of his friends, he is impressed by her beauty and her purity. He falls madly in love with her. But how is he supposed to put that on board with his friend and his mistress? He has worked out a cynical idea. He sends his friend to Aurélie to explain that he wants to break up with her, while informing her husband that his wife has a lover.
