The unemployed Joachim (Wolfgang Reichmann), actually an opera singer by profession, has a plan to earn money: he starts a cult in the name of a non-existent guru. With followers all over Europe and the United States, he amass wealth and power, until suddenly an Indian drifter shows up claiming to be the guru.
