Die Ente Klingelt um Halb Acht plot

Computer expert Dr. Alexander is a rational thinking scientist. However, when he tells a police officer that he has just been involved in a collision with a large elephant, he is not taken seriously and is placed in an asylum. Once there, he continues to protest, claiming to be completely sane, but the doctor treating him believes acceptance of his state of mind is the first step back to normal life, and will not argue with him until then. And so Alexander sees no option but to admit that he is mentally confused - but that very confession leads to a series of new problems.
