Chocolate Lizards plot

Erwin Vandeveer is a Harvard-educated actor who just got fired from his first real acting job in New Orleans. He returns to Los Angeles, but his car breaks down outside Buffalo Gap in Texas. There he meets the rugged Merle Luskey, who will lose his oil drilling business in 30 days unless he has the money to pay his bank account. The two good-for-nothings then join forces with Faye, the local café manager and the unofficial mayor of Buffalo Gap, in an improbable plan to avert disaster and try to save Merle's business.
