A salesman in a jewelry store is transferred from Milan to Rome with promotion and a higher salary. Unfortunately, all the residents of his flat, including him, are evicted. His living situation keeps getting worse, until he ends up homeless on the street. Finally, he learns that every now and then it takes a little white lie to get out of trouble.
