"This motion picture is conceived to erase the memory of Leslie Braverman who had the poor taste to drop dead, without warning, thereby inflicting on his family and friends all sorts of burdensome inconveniences--like, for openers, the funeral."
Braverman, an idealistic petty author, dies. His four best friends are writers who have decided to attend his funeral. The foursome consists of a disenchanted magazine publisher, a poet, a book reviewer and an embittered second-hand bookseller. During a picturesque journey from Greenwich Village to Brooklyn, the foursome never actually arrives at the funeral, but their odyssey does lead to many self-revelations and unspoken words.
