Typically flat Dutch film that was made a lot in the eighties.

Still clear that Verhoeven outsmarts everyone by really making something of his films. His Turkish Delight and Spatters, which are also quite flat overall, work much better than these weak copies. Just read Quentin's post that Burning Love was even advertised as TF 2.

However, the film still has its charm somehow. The game of van de Ven and van der Lubbe in particular take it to a higher level. The music was also pleasant. Every now and then a funny scene in between and the nice concept make it an enjoyable but otherwise not really special film.

A film from probably the best period of Dutch film, not that this is a good film now, on the contrary, but before that time the makers showed guts. At the time it was said in the media that this would be a second Turkish Delight, with that you are doing the makers of Turks Delight short, the only similarity is the story of Jan Wolkers and yes that is accompanied by a lot of nudity, lewdness and provocations, which that is no difference with Turkish Delight, in Turks Delight van der Ven played much better than she does in this production, in Brandende Liefde she is only supported in a great way by Ellen Vogel, the rest is just soso, the reason why PJ Rens only appeared in children's TV after this film is clear after seeing this film and what Berend Boudwijn did in such a production has always been a mystery to me. Is there anything positive about this film, yes, Ellen Vogel plays a great role, v/d Ven was a beautiful woman in those years and luckily could also act, although this is not her best role and the music, which is well, that's why two stars.
