Blues Brothers 2000 plot

Eighteen years after the first mission of God of the Blues Brothers, Elwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd) is released and discovers that a lot has changed over the years. His buddy Jack is dead, his band has broken up and the orphanage where he grew up has been demolished. Elwood soon discovers that he has a new mission to accomplish: he must reassemble the band, this time with the help of a soulful bartender, (John Goodman), he must join the Battle of the Bands at Queen Moussette ( Erykah Badu) and he must guide a rather stubborn orphan named Buster. In the midst of the chaos, he must prove to the police that there is magic in his music... and that behind the Blues Brothers madness lies a mysterious and unique recipe.

Well, you can certainly not call this film super original and therefore largely follows the same lines as its predecessor. It's nice that most of the cast returns in this part.

The songs were fun and fit the style of the predecessor.

I certainly didn't think the humor in this film was bad and I had to laugh a few times.

Certainly not a bad sequel and is therefore in line with its predecessor, only it is slightly better.

okay it's not part 2, after all John isn't there. But still once again enjoyed the music, atmosphere and memories of the time before adulthood.

I didn't think it was that bad anymore. The music in particular is very good. This sequel pays tribute to the deceased Belushi, Calloway and Candy who ruled the first film. Landis keeps the same format, but with a lower result than the original (4.5*). Everything from the first film is discussed again: the nun, Goodman who replaces Belushi (unsuccessfully), the chases by the police and of course a lot of impressive names from the music world.

I missed the catchy atmosphere of the original and that has a lot to do with the absence of John Belushi but also with the addition of some silly elements. For example, the scene with James Brown in that tent, in which the sheriff suddenly changes into a blues brother, is a painful "oh my god" moment. But with artists like Clapton, Erykah Badu, Aretha Franklin and BB King, music lovers are pampered and much of the pain is forgotten.
