"It got so that when a girl looked into his eyes, she wanted to swap her apartment for a tent, trade the Packard for a camel, and try housekeeping on the Sahara."
John Hart is a teller at the bank. He is fired after a shortfall in his account is found. Desperate for work, John finds a job as a background actor with famed director BC Duval. Duval, who only has pumpjacks in his retinue, sees potential in young John and decides to turn him into a Latin American seducer. After they work on him, John is introduced to the press as the lady killer Don Juan Hartez. To promote his newfound reputation as a big fan, the press agent insists that John marry and divorce seven women in succession.
