dated does not necessarily have to be synonymous with worse, something that sometimes seems to be taken for granted.
Actually, the character of Alice is often painful to watch, and if you manage to arouse those feelings in the viewer, you are doing something right, although I must admit that her behavior is very much on top of that.
It's a pity that Macmurray's character was not chosen to intervene, now you occasionally wonder what he sees in her since she behaves so bizarrely
Furthermore, the interactions between the honest father and the manipulative mother are well developed, no judgment is made about this aspect of female behavior, despite the fact that he is driven by her to more or less steal the formula [ /spoiler]
A decent film (not a high-flyer) that increases in level after a mediocre start, that is not exactly Hepburn's
