Adult Swim Yule Log plot
The couple Zoe and Alex rent a log cabin. Alex films the fire and uses that material to make long YouTube videos. He also has romantic plans, but they are disrupted when the sheriff shows up and warns them of a killer in the area. Another group also shows up due to a double booking and it turns out they are not alone in the cabin.

You could call this original, but what a slow and boring start. For the first fifteen minutes, you only see a fireplace, and then the camera slowly zooms out, leaving you lurking in the living room for half an hour. There's little humor, and the plot is simply ridiculous. In the past, I might have appreciated this nonsense, but my time has become too precious for this type of film.

A far-fetched yet creative horror film in which director Casper Kelly rapidly fires off all sorts of great ideas at the viewer. The almost constant drive for originality consistently delivers an interesting and funny approach, even if some moments feel rather forced. Of course, it all has a somewhat long buildup and few compelling characters, but Adult Swim Yule Log nevertheless strikes a fine balance between humor, horror, and science fiction. Towards the finale, things get a bit messy, but even that's delivered with enough charm and quirkiness to avoid being boring.
