Excellent film in which a Facebook employee decides to cooperate with a journalist. A fascinating film about the polarizing effect of social media due to the algorithm. Strong dialogue, as expected from Aaron Sorkin, with a touch of humor as well. Good acting from the entire cast. As a film in itself, somewhat less successful than its predecessor The Social Network, but nonetheless a relevant film.

A mediocre sequel in which director Aaron Sorkin fails to make this world feel human. The Social Reckoning abounds in characters who are given a lot to feel more unique, yet consistently come across as caricatured and scripted. Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg is the prime example of this, and his presence immediately reveals that nuance and neutrality were not part of the whole. Furthermore, a one-sided story is told regardless, and although certain points are very harrowing, the film fails to feel honest and complete. Fortunately, Jeremy Allen White's acting is strong and certainly engaging, but Sorkin proves he is no David Fincher, and visually, a film from 16 years ago surpasses this on all fronts.

The writer of The Social Network also directs this retrospective on the origins and revelation of The Facebook Files. Jeff Horwitz [Jeremy Allen White], an investigative journalist for the Wall Street Journal, is designated by Facebook as their greatest arch-nemesis. But Frances Haugen [Mikey Madison] of the integrity team decides, after much hesitation, to contact Jeff anyway. She does not want to destroy Facebook, but to ensure that it focuses (again) on the ideals with which she and many colleagues passionately committed themselves to Facebook. The narrative is interspersed with scenes in which the robotic Mark Zuckerberg [Jeremy Strong] prepares for a hearing. Sorkin skillfully succeeds in making complex subject matter (algorithms, etc.) understandable enough with the help of an excellent cast. White impresses by consistently portraying Zuckerberg as a human computer; without empathy, without outward signs of emotion, and solely focused on results.
