The Best of Men plot

The story begins in 1944, when the hospital of the English village of Stoke Mandeville is delighted with the arrival of Dr. Ludwig Guttmann. The passionate doctor soon turns out to be a true source of inspiration for everyone. The patients of the hospital are paralyzed soldiers. The world has written them off, nobody cares for them anymore. But Dr. Guttmann makes a breakthrough in their lives by introducing sports as part of the rehabilitation process.
