Palavra e Utopia plot
1663, Brother Antonio Vieira, a renowned Jesuit priest who is a close friend of the late King Joao IV, is summoned before the tribunal of the terrible Inquisition. His position is threatened by many misunderstandings. Before the eyes of his judges, Vieira looks back on his past. His childhood in Brazil, his novice time in Bahia, his involvement in the Indian cause and his first successes. The Inquisition robs him of freedom of speech; he flees to Rome where he builds a nice career. The Pope would like to keep him in Rome. But homesickness creeps into Vieira.
