Nan Hai Shi San Lang plot
The son of a wealthy bigamist, Kiang Yu-Kou, is a precocious child whose intellect is matched only by his arrogance. As he matures, Kiang spends his evenings watching traditional Cantonese Opera and writing his own inventive variations on it. He is confident that he will soon find work in the artistic field. Finally, the opportunity he's been waiting for comes and the young writer quickly establishes a reputation as a temperamental genius. But the Japanese invasion of Shanghai shatters his hopes for a successful career as an artist.
