"The Rise and Fall of a Real Life Mafia Don"
Mafia member John Gotti grew up with the ironclad rule of the Cosa Nostra: never betray your family or your friends. His loyalty to the 'family' and his mentor Mr. Neil is so big that he sacrifices himself to save an important operation. When Gotti gets out of prison after years, he must see with sadness how the Gambino family is falling apart. With his loyal friend Sammy Gravano, he ruthlessly puts things in order. When Gotti is subsequently accused of murder, the prosecutor puts great pressure on Sammy Gravano. Will the loyal vassal betray his friend and the 'family'?

Best role ever by Armand Assante, what a good Gotti he plays, better than Sizemore in Witness to the Mob.
What a fetish these guys have for good espresso.
The role of Anthony Quinn was also definitely there, beautiful father-son chemistry tss. Assante and Quinn.
Here you can especially see how the Cosa Nostra works, the rules, the hierarchy within the families and the associated loyalty or betrayal.
I always like William Forsythe, although Torturro also plays a good Sammy The Bull Gravano in Witness to the Mob.
Didn't make much of a fuss about this movie because it was straight to DVD or something from HBO. TV movie.
Has received a number of Golden Globe noms and won 1 Emmy. Very rightly so.
Highly recommended for fans of the genre, follows a bit the same line as Witness to the Mob, but with a Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics label, and a better cast, as it should be. 4 stars!

The budget for this film will be a lot less than the more recent version from 2018 (and Travolta is acting very well in the update) but due to the fact that Armand Assante is, in my opinion, perfect for the role of John Gotti, this older version remains better anyway. Also William Forsythe as Sammy Gravano is, in my opinion, a lot stronger than the portrayal of William DeMeo from the 2018 film.

Gotti is a fine film about the cosa nostra, the criminal organization of the various Sicilian mafia families. Armand Assante acts here as a dyke as well as the supporting cast. Great movie this.
